Hoosier
National Forest - Trails for hiking, mountain
bike riding, and horseback riding. The Nebo Ridge Trail is
very close. We can provide you with maps, passes and advice
and maybe even accompany you on your way. Plus, if you will
be horseback riding, our neighbor can stable
and/or pasture your horses at her farm just down the hill.
Brown
County State Park – Bridle, mountain bike and hiking
trails, saddle barn, tennis courts, playgrounds, picnic and
grilling facilities, shelter houses, swimming pool, Nature
Center and fishing lakes along with beautiful natural views
of the tree covered hills of Brown County.
Lake
Monroe - Indiana's largest reservoir, located
southeast of Bloomington, is perfect for watersports enthusiasts.
A huge portion of the lake is open for powerboaters, and another
large section, designated as idle zone, is a haven for canoeists
and fishermen. There are also recreation areas around the
lake offering shelter houses, hiking trails, Nature Center,
swimming beaches and more.

Nashville - We are just 15 minutes south
of the "hustle and bustle" of the historic little
town of Nashville in the gently rolling hills of Brown County,
Indiana. The town started life as an Artists’ Colony.
Today it still has many art galleries and craft shops run
by local artisans, including glass blowers, leather workers,
potters, weavers, painters, photographers. You'll love the
variety of specialty, gift and antique shops. Many stores
specialize in foods such as nuts, coffee, home-made ice cream
or Western delicacies. The Nashville
Express “Train” runs regularly through town
and horse-drawn carriage rides are available, weather permitting.
There are also many other unique places to visit:
Wineries, various theaters, the Little
Nashville Opry, Marionette
Theater, The
Bill Monroe Bluegrass Memorial Park and Festival, a
dance barn, a saddle barn, a climbing facility, an Old Time
photography studio, a hologram studio, wedding chapels and
more. A little further south you'll find caving opportunities.
Columbus - Known for it's unique and unusual
architecture, the small city has larger stores, movie theaters
and restaurants.
Bloomington - Home to Indiana University,
the town also has movie theaters, unique restaurants, larger
stores, a weekend "Farmers' market" and more, and
it is an easy drive away.
The
Butcher's Block in Bloomington (phone 812-336-MEAT)
offers a delicious array of meat and seafood, plus a deli
and tailgate delivery services for IU home football games.
Other Attractions - In the area are specialty,
gift and antique shops, several wineries, flea markets, golf,
caves, museums, a drag way, flying and parachuting at neighboring
airfields, gardens and historical sites. Near to us there
are canoe rental companies, a historic restaurant and bar,
an Orienteering course, a Paintball center and Dude ranches.
