We
are British and proud of our heritage. We, Alison and
Stuart Coulter, are descendents of the English Poet Laureate
Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s family. Frederick Tennyson (seen
in the portrait) was my Great Great Grandfather and Sir Alfred’s
brother. Frederick also wrote, and he and Alfred published poems
together. The two brothers would often walk out in the Lincolnshire
countryside, where they grew up in England, on opposite sides
of a prickly British hedgerow, trying out their latest poems
on one another and asking the others’ advice. (Maybe the
hedge was to prevent any over-criticism!)
Our
house is furnished with many antique pieces of family
furniture, paintings and china. You are welcome to our spacious
pine log home, built in 1999, upon 34 acres of peaceful land.
Set upon a high hill with magnificent un-spoilt and far reaching
views, the lodge overlooks the tree covered valleys and hills
beyond, including “Browning
Mountain” and Hoosier
National Forest.
We
are surrounded by many beautiful forests, and there
are many great trails through the hills, ridges and rivers
offering escape and challenge for cyclists, horseback riders
and hikers alike. The view from our enormous deck is magnificent
and unrivalled at any time of the year, but Fall and Spring
are especially beautiful, and few visitors leave without comment!
